About your therapist

For me the journey into massage therapy began in July 2007 when I was made redundant from my job in PR. I took this opportunity to retrain in something I felt I was more suited to and would really enjoy doing!

After researching massage as a career I started a Diploma in Holistic Massage Therapy at Basingstoke College of Technology. I spent a year temping 9-5 during the day and studying and practising in the evenings and weekends. A lot of people asked me what homework I had to do for a massage course – the answer is anatomy and physiology! To qualify as a massage therapist you have to have comprehensive knowledge of the body right down to the cellular level, massage effects every system of the body so we have to know what we’re effecting and how.

After qualifying I wanted to specialise in acupressure massage.

To me massage in the workplace is common sense. So many of us spend most of our waking hours seated – usually slouching - at a desk. Most people know that massage is fantastic for mind and body but can’t fit it into their hectic timetable. Being able to take massage into the workplace is the perfect solution.

I qualified as a holistic massage therapist with ITEC http://www.itecworld.co.uk/qualifications/Diplomas.aspx?k=2

I chose to study acupressure with the Academy of On-Site Massage http://www.aosm.co.uk/seatedAcup.html

I have all my own equipment, my own transport and am fully insured. My insurance is through my professional body, the ComplementaryTherapists Association http://www.complementary.assoc.org.uk/InsuranceInfo/
